 Diagnosed by lab numbers  as being pre-diabetic and pre-hypertension I started with RFIT early 1st quarter 2018 after laying off from any physical exercise for years. My goals were to:
  • Reduce my waistline 
  • Be trim n fit to wear my clothes w/o bulges 
  • Be led by a certified trainer as I am not self motivated when it comes to physical training. 
  • Have a weekly regimen of cardio n strength to meet my needs, pace n physical thresholds 
  • Maintain a steady weight 
  • Keep my vital numbers within a healthy range namely:
         - blood pressure          - Total Cholesterol/ HDL %         - glucose and A1C         - BMI 
  • Have fun n camaraderie while perspiring 
  • Have a no frills (read $) gym w/free on grade parking.  
  • Not be on a restricted diet but be able to continue to moderately eat foods I enjoy that normally are no-no like chocolate ice cream, sushi, steak, Japanese beer/sake and ramen. 
It’s the start of the 4th Quarter 2018 n am more than happy to say all of my goals are being met. 
Attending 3 sessions (MWF) a week has enabled me to not only eat without a restricted diet and enjoy no-no foods I gotta have occasionally but also:
I’ve trimmed my waist by 2 inches and have lost 10 total pounds of combined muscle gain and fat loss. I had to buy a one size fit all Slide Belt to adjust for the lost of waistline ! For me it’s not about losing weight but losing inches. 
My vital numbers were in the words of my primary doctor “to die for”. When I first heard that politically incorrect term uttered by my Doctor I thought the numbers were deadly. The Doctor meant the numbers were what people of my age would love to have:

- Blood pressure below 120/80
- A1C below 5 
- TC/HDL % of less than 2%.
- BMI under 25 

Unlike before R.Fit.Hawaii, I can now walk without much strain during my far off travels where lots of walking, climbing stairs-steps n hills are the norm due to leg exercises. 
My lower back doesn’t ache as much due to strengthening and maintaining my core muscles. 
Everybody is diff - pun intended - as such I go through the group training sessions my physical thresholds will allow. Instead of 10 reps of burpees I might do 8.  Instead of 5 cycles of a series of exercises I might do 4.  

Reno n Pohai run a no frills air conditioned gym with energized music to keep us on pace.

"I started R Fit a little over 1 year ago.  At first I went because I wanted to get stronger, to find more balance in my life away from work, and to strengthen my knees which were causing me pain.  I was hoping that R Fit could give me a place to start that journey.  Reno has been instrumental in making all of those changes happen for me.  He is a kind, mindful, caring coach who listens and works to help each person in his gym achieve their goals.  He encourages everyone to be the best they can be not only in the gym, but in our daily lives as well.  Now, a year later, my knees hardly bother me and I can walk the Makapu'u Lighthouse trail without knee braces or pain, something I never thought would be possible again.  I'm the strongest I have been in years and R Fit serves as my place of refuge to focus on myself, my health, and achieve my goals."
